Wyatt Sciacca - Local Innisfail Talent Recognised in 2025 John Deere Awards
Proud Innisfail local, Wyatt Sciacca, a Parts Interpreter at our Innisfail branch, has once again been recognised on the national stage as one of 29 Australian and New Zealand finalists in the 2025 John Deere Technician of the Year Awards. This year, Wyatt is a finalist in the Parts Technician of the Year category, an exciting progression after being named a finalist in the Apprentice Parts Technician division in 2024.
Wyatt began his journey with Honeycombes in 2022 as a trainee in the Parts Department while completing his Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations. His rapid development and enthusiasm for John Deere machinery have seen him take on more responsibility, including mentoring new staff. "Bleeding green is more than just a phrase for me - it represents a deep-rooted commitment to the industry and a career path I am eager to pursue for many years to come," Wyatt said.
His interest in machinery was sparked at an early age through the influence of both his grandfathers. His paternal grandfather, a diesel mechanic at the Mossman Council Depot, often brought him along to work, taking time to explain how different machines operated. After his passing, Wyatt developed a close bond with his maternal grandfather, who spent much of his time maintaining his machinery. During this time, Wyatt first learned how to source aftermarket parts and interpret parts manuals, skills that laid the foundation for his future career.
Successfully completing his traineeship at the end of 2024 marked a major milestone in Wyatt’s professional development. His continued learning and dedication are evident in his approach to the role. "I am still endeavouring to learn as much as I can about John Deere machines and the Agricultural and Turf field from my mentors," Wyatt said.
As a finalist, Wyatt will travel to Brisbane on 15 September for on-site testing. The winners will be announced at the John Deere Technician Awards Gala on 18 September 2025. We wish Wyatt the very best and hope he brings home the title of Parts Technician of the Year.
